Senior residence with 180 flats, Greencity Zürich / office building (programm competition)

A modern city quarter will be developed on an inner-city, former industrial site near Zürich. It will follow the principle of the 2000-watt society. A lively sustainable diverse mix of approximately 67,000 sqm of flexible office, residential, commercial, hotel, school and S-Bahn station will be realized in the Greencity. The debate about the history of the site and sustainability will also play a key role in addition to criteria regarding urban planning, architecture, user convenience and flexibility. JSWD was awarded a contract to plan construction area no. B6. The building affiliates with the compactness and calmness of the historic existing buildings of the former paper factory, parts of which will be retained. The large-scale openings facilitate deep-reaching illumination into the office areas. The ground floor zone and the first floor will be combined architecturally to an elevated ground level and will give the building an aspiring slenderness, despite its large volume. The simple and clear basic structure of the glass-fibre reinforced concrete buildings forms a stone metaphor that represents the industrial nature of the site's history.
Building site B6 is the last undeveloped plot of land in Greencity. In order to ensure its socially and urbanistically sustainable development, the supplementary private design plan has now been partially revised. The reason is the changed initial situation: The use was previously limited to services and commerce, but this no longer meets the needs of the neighborhood and the economy. Therefore, in addition to the existing commercial and service use, retirement apartments, care and educational facilities are also to be possible on construction site B6.
