Hall 1 completetd 2020, Confex® 2024

The planned expansion and upgrading of Koelnmesse is intended to make the site next to the Köln-Messe/Deutz ICE train station fit for the future. Koelnmesse plans to invest around 700 million euros by 2030. The aim of the new construction and renovation measures is a clear organization and reorganization of the complex, both existing and new use and development structures, which will enable an optimally flexible hall combination. Among other things, the multifunctional Confex® for trade fairs, congresses and corporate events and an intelligent east-west terminal linking all trade fair areas are to be created. In addition, the trade fair will have a new, distinctive East Entrance.
Based on the idea of developing a clear main access intersection consisting of the trade fair boulevard and the terminal, the new terminal extends in an east-west direction from Deutz-Mühlheimer Strasse to the Staatenhaus bridge. This consistent execution of the terminal enables a clear and concise development system of all adjacent halls, including the new Confex® and Hall 1. At the same time, the clarity of the development is associated with a maximum of flexibility. A variety of hall combinations with direct or via terminal access are possible. Two roof foyers allow direct access from the parking decks to the conference level, which will be a special spatial experience with spectacular views and vistas.

Certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) in the highest category (platinum) is being sought for the Confex®.
