The new building will form the start to the "Campus West" and create clear spatial borders to the adjacent urban spaces. The main entrance, visible from afar, is the high point. The building unites a workshop, laboratories, library and seminar rooms under one roof. A green inner courtyard provides views into the experimental hall, among other things. Rooms with the potential to be noisy are located in the basement, which is inserted into the side of the hill. The compactness of the design enables short distances and a high amount of internal communication.

The façade is designed in the spirit of corporate architecture using recycled metal sheets. In addition to providing protection from the sun, it contains ventilation elements that allow cooling without opening windows and thus help insulate against noise. This covering is also low-maintenance and can be taken apart and reused in line with the cradle-to-cradle principle.
